Modern Native American Afghan


MODERN NATIVE AMERICAN (INSPIRED) AFGHAN


Materials:

15-20 skeins of Encore worsted (3000 - 3600yards)
3-4 colors
US 8-9, 16” circular needle; DPN's
I9 crochet hook
Tapestry needle

CO 30sts for each panel.
Note, slip first stitch on every row.

Panels 1 & 7:
Color A Knit in pattern of choice for 30”; Switch to color B after finishing a WS row, knit in pattern for 12”; Switch to Color A, Knit in pattern for 12”, BO.
Panels 2 & 6:
Color A for 18” 
Color B for 36” 
Color A for 18”
Panels 3 & 5:
Color A for 12” 
Color B for 8” 
Color C for 4” 
Color D for 24” 
Color C for 4” 
Color B for 8” 
Color A for 12”
Panel 4: 
Color B for 20” 
Color C for 4” 
Color D for 24” 
Color C for 4” 
Color B for 20”
Crochet or Knit border with color A and color B.

Estimated Finished Dimensions 72”x42”

Border: 

Version 1: Crochet

With Color A (or any color you prefer) and I9 crochet hook, slip stitch into one of the corner. You will do four HDC in each corner, and one HDC in each stitch around the blanket. slip stitch into the first slip stitch, and then SC tbl around, again doing 4 of the pattern stitch in each corner.

Version 2: I-Cord BO

With US 8 or US 9 Circular or DPN's. CO 4 sts with color of choice; * pick up 1 st from the blanket edge, slide stitches to other end of the needle; knit 3 sts, k2tog tbl. Rep. from *.


Blanket in One piece:

CO 90 sts in color A, 30 sts in color B, and 90 sts in color A. Follow same color sequence as the panels, making sure to twist the yarn at the color changes to prevent holes.

4hour Fingerless Mittens



Materials:

US 11 circular or DPN's
Worsted-Aran-Bulky yarn (100 yards) I used Panguipulli Yarn by Araucania


Pattern:

With yarn held double, CO 27sts, Join in the round (or knit flat)!

Do 2x1 rib (k2,p1) for 4", Then you will stop knitting in the round (if you choose that option).

Knit front and back (NOT in the round) for 1"; then re-join in the round after peice measures 5" from the beginning

K2, p1 rib until piece measures 7"-8" long.

Optional thumb: pick up 9 sts work in 2x1 rib for 4rnds BO loosely.

Easy Lace Scarf


Materials:
US 10.5 needle

1 skein  of a Dk-Worsted weight yarn (150yards)

Size: 4" wide

Pattern:

CO 18sts 
K1, YO, K2tog; Rep each row!


Repeat this row until you are almost out of yarn.

BO in pattern.

10 Hour Sock Pattern:




Materials:
US 10.5 Circular or DPN’s
Tapestry needle
Measuring tape
2 skeins of encore worsted or any equivalent weight yarn (chunky, 200yards per skein) Yarn will be held double (at the same time)
Size
Mens S, Womens M-L; Mens M-L in ()
Cuff:
CO 28(32) sts
1x1(K1, P1) or 2x2(K2, P2) rib for 2.5”
Begin Stst until cuff measures 4.5”-7” (desired length, please buy more yarn if you want socks to be longer)
Heel flap:
Begin slip stitch Heel: (knit back and forth across 14sts, you will have 14sts on a holder that will not be worked in this section)
1.sl1, k1 (repeat across 14sts(16sts))
sl first stitch, purl across End after Finishing a purl row! (Heel flap should be about 1.5"-2" long).
Heel dec row and shaping:
1st row: (= RS): Knit until there are 5(7) sts left on row, K2 tog, turn the piece.
2nd row: (= WS): Purl until there are 5(7) sts left on row, P2 tog, turn the piece.
3rd row (= RS): Knit until there are 4(6) sts left on row, K2 tog, turn the piece.
4th row (= WS): Purl until there are 4(6) sts left on row, P2 tog, turn the piece.
5th row: Knit until there are 3(5)sts left on row, K2tog, K1, turn piece.
6th row: Purl until there are 3(5)sts left on row, P2tog, P1.
There should be 8(4) sts left on the heel, and 14(16)sts that have not yet been worked.
Gusset: (you will begin to work in the round again)
Knit across heel sts, placing a marker after the 7th stitch. Pick up 7-8sts, put stitches on hold back on the needle, knit across front 14(16)sts, pick up 7-8sts
Knit to the last 3sts, k2tog, k1; k14; k1, ssk (or k2togtbl), knit to marker.
Knit every stitch.
Repeat these two rows until you have 28(32)sts total or 14(16) sts on each needle
Foot:
Knit every row until foot measures about 1.5”-2” shy of recipients foot!
Toe:
knit to last 2 sts, k2tog; ssk, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog; ssk, knit to marker.
knit entire round
Repeat these two rows until you have 4sts left on each needle.
Finishing:
Kitchner stitch; weave in ends!
Sock is finished, make other sock!
Note if using Double Points (DPN) divide sts between four needles evenly. For smaller size you should have 7sts on each needle, and for larger size you should have 8sts on each needle.
Abbreviations:
Sts= stitches
DPN= Double pointed needles
K=Knit
P=Purl
K2tog= knit two together
K2togtbl= knit two together through back loop
SSK= slip, slip, knit (slip two stitches as if to knit, on to the right hand needle; put left needle into the front of those two recently slipped stitches, and knit those two stitches together through back loop)

US size 8 needle; 1 Skein of Rowan kidsilk haze,
CO 40sts
1.Knit first row. 
2.Knit 5 sts, yo, k2tog, till last five sts, knit (Maintain the garter stittch border over five sts) 
3.Knit across.
repeat rows 2 and 3 till desired length and end with a purled row on the RS of the work.

Cable Hat Pattern

Materials: Chunky Weight yarn 150-200yards, US size 9 needle, one stitch marker, and one tapestry needle

K2, P2 for 1”
Pattern:
K6, P8
C3B, P8 (repeat on every 8th row)

Improvising this. which should be simple.
Doing the body in one piece, and the sleeves on straight needles.
For size 36/38bust Casting on 164sts
2x2 rib and place two marks on marking the beginning and the front of the piece, and the other in a different color to mark the back of the piece. do the ribbing for 2.5” in the gray. Working 2 rows of rainbow colors, and 7-8 rows of gray.
Stst till 14” long; BO10 stitches at each marker.
Back: k1, k2tog, K-last 3sts, ask k1; purl one row. Repeat 2 more times. work even in Stst till 8.5-9” long.
Front: 4rows into the gray start neck decrease after the red row) BO center 32sts working with two balls of yarn. knit for 3 rows then decrease as follows: knit to last 3 sts, k1, k2tog, second side k1, ssk, knit to end. Purl on wrong side work till same size as back. BO all sts.
Sleeve (make 2):
With smaller needles, cast on 42 (42, 46, 46, 50) sts. Work in K2, p2 Rib until piece measures about 3 in. (7.5 cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Change to larger needles.
Next (Inc) Row: K2, kfb, (inc made) work in St st to last 3 sts, kfb (inc made), k2.
Continue in St st, rep Inc Row every 4 rows 13 (13, 14, 12, 14) more times, then every 6 rows 4 (4, 4, 6, 5) times – 78 (78, 84, 84, 90) sts.
Work even until piece measures 18 (18, 18, 19, 19) in. (45.5 (45.5, 45.5, 48.5, 48.5) cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Cap
Bind off 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 68 (68, 74, 72, 78) sts.
Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows – 60 (60, 66, 64, 70) sts.
Next (Dec) Row: K1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.
Next Row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows until 44 sts rem.
Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 8 rows.
Bind off rem 20 sts.
Collar: pick up and k90sts, 2x2 rib for 1.5” BO.
